Environmental policies

Toby Electronics is committed to minimising its impact on the environment. Our priority for the future is to take measures that will improve energy efficiency, reducing both CO₂ emissions and business overheads.

Carbon Footprint

A basic assessment of Toby Electronic's carbon footprint for the year Jan-Dec 2007 has been made. Following guidelines set by The Carbon Trust, the calculation included onsite fuel (gas) and electricity usage, use of the company's own transport, and air travel. This resulted in total CO₂ emissions of 22.98 tonnes.

We are currently in the process of identifying the most effective methods of reducing this figure.

Energy Usage

Toby Electronics moved into a purpose built head office and distribution centre in 1999. Located on a reclaimed brownfield site, the building is fully insulated and includes solar shading to help eliminate the need for air-conditioning. Features also include a high efficiency condensing boiler.

Travel

Employee travel: cycling/walking is encouraged through the use of secure storage and on-site shower facilities. Car sharing is also promoted.

Waste and Recycling

Toby reuses as much packaging as possible - goods are despatched in manufacturers' own packaging wherever possible. All other paper/cardboard waste is collected by a contractor for recycling.

We are currently in the process of implementing a paperless order picking system.
